A-Truppen 2021-22: Välkommen Tommy Steven!
1 maj 2021
Hi Tommy, welcome to Sweden and GSK Hockey. Tell us who you are, where you come from and how you ended up in Gislaved?
- Hello, my name is Thomas Steven and I am from Sydney, Australia. I’ve heard great things about ice hockey in Sweden and with the help of my player advisor I ended up in Gislaved.
You came here already in November last year but never trained with the team before the pandemic shut it all down, what were you thinking then?
-It was unfortunate that I arrived just as everything started shutting down, but on the bright side I was grateful to make some great friends and memories, have some new experiences along the way so as much bad luck as it was, it was still a fantastic experience.
You were in Gislaved for a long time, am I right?
-Yes, 3 Months
You will be 23 years later this year, but have already had time to play hockey in both the USA and Canada. Tell us more about your hockey journey from childhood to now.
-I went to Canada when I was 13 to play at the Pursuit of Excellence Academy for 3 years in Canada. Kalkaska, Michigan the next year and Green Bay, Wisconsin the year after that, and then spent the following 3 years in Bellingham, Washington.
It sounds like really wonderful experiences. What are your expectations of yourself and the team next season, provided it will really be playable.
-I’m looking forward to experiencing what it’s like to play in Sweden, and contributing to the teams success, I am very excited to get started.
If I understand it right, it's winter in Australia now and you're on ice, but not playing any games. Is it decided when you will join the team in Gislaved?
-We are actually in Autumn right now, and we are just having exhibition games with my club here in Sydney. As far as when I’ll be arriving I am unsure, August at the latest.
Many thanks for the interview, good luck with the trip back to the futu... Sweden, later on!
-No worries! thank you!
Cheers mate!
